About TwitterGIF
TwitterGIF is a small, independent tool with one job: turning a Twitter / X video into a GIF you can share — quickly, privately and without making you sign up for anything.
How it works
When you paste a post link, our lookup service asks X’s public embed endpoint which video files belong to that post and sends the links back to your browser. Your browser then downloads the MP4 straight from X’s video servers and converts it with ffmpeg — the open-source video toolkit — compiled to WebAssembly.
Nothing is uploaded to us. The conversion runs on your own phone or computer, and the finished GIF never leaves it unless you decide to share it.
Why we built it
Most “Twitter to GIF” sites upload your video to their servers, hide the download button between ads, or make you create an account first. We wanted the opposite: a clean tool that respects your time and your privacy, paid for by the people who need more than the free plan — not by ads or by selling data.
Free and paid plans
Anyone can convert up to 5 clips a day for free: up to 10 seconds long, 480px wide at 15 fps, with a small watermark. The one-time GIF Pack and the Pro plans unlock longer, sharper GIFs without the watermark. Payments are handled by Stripe and you never need an account — just an email address for your receipt and license key. See pricing for details.
